Hi all,
Pardon me if this has been suggested, but it has been on my mind. I’ll try to explain this as best I can.
As some of you may have noticed, when you use an automation device and link it to a VSTi, many, if not all, of the parameters of that VSTi appear as a long list cryptic names when you select them from the drop down menu of the automation device. Often I find it is very difficult to find the parameter I’m trying to adjust/link to (there are also usually hundreds to choose from)… However, it is extremely easy to find the parameter I’m looking for on the VSTi’s interface, simply because they are usually represented with big knobs and switches. My suggestion is to allow users to set the automation device to “Learn” in one of the drop down menus, then whatever the next knob you turn is, that automatically becomes the link parameter. This would make controlling the parameters of soft synths via an automation device so much more fluid to set up.
If there is currently a way to do this, please let me know. If this is unclear, I will try and mock up a graphic of what I’m talking about. Thanks,
Brendan
