Yes… but if I were to decide (which of course would be optimal!) there would be no macro controls. Instead, something like the hydra could be set to custom GUI controls to make your own “interface” for your chain, using either sliders, rotaries, whatnot. Maybe even custom “viewbuilder” code, like the formula device does with CV and lua.
Or the most simple solution, just using hydra and being able to set it to either sliders or rotaries. The “arm and route” feature could be added to all meta device output fields as well.
I think it’s better to build on the already available (and powerful) meta system for controls. The doofer and its concept in general is slightly ad-hoc imo, like the xml/preset system being prioritized before proper device access and automation.
(Sidenote: the meta devices could have been a VST in their own right, just like redux. People are still using the archaic Lfotool for CC modulation, which is way less powerful. Maybe now they’re moving on to cableguys and siblings)
