Yo, kudos to you Moss for instigating this compo! I don’t know if anyone else is entering or not, but here’s my entry. I went and did a lo-fi glitched-out version of the Grange Hill theme.
SPODNIK This is a wicked song to do. When you mentioned grange hill, i thought you were going to use the theme they used from about 1990 onward…This One.
But i like this one too for it’s cheeky charm, and crunching it up has made it even more so.
Your glitchy spins are well cool, although they felt, at points, a little too seperated from the melodies. I can imagine a little more time would have sorted this out though.
You covered the melodies and harmonies perfectly, nice one.
SOLION aaAAA WOwz.
This is absolutely brilliant…
It’s a tough tune too, but you’ve kept it’s musical essence whilst giving it the loveable, childlike, playful 8bit quality…You’ve used the vibrato/pitch bends/arpeggiator effects effectively too.
Expertly done, this should definitely feature on any of your portfolios as it shows you have a real knowledge of harmony, and a good ear… Well done!
I love the solo at 1:45…
This is a win for me…
Message me your address details, and i’ll send you Starcraft in the post.
P.S It doesn’t have the serial code!
SHOOT ME, i’m sorry, i only just noticed this…I’m sure there is a keygen for it though or something.
Heh, glad you enjoyed it man! I might cover that other Grange Hill them for the next chiptune compo – who knows?
Re: the drum programming – I pretty much meant for it to sound exactly the way it did. I did throw the whole thing together in an evening though, so it could perhaps have used a bit more polish. Who knows?
@ Solion: Congrats for your win! Kickass tune m8, you gots da skillz —>
I recently remixed BORAY’S (fella off this forum) tune, thought i might as well post it up here.
Not sure if you can hear the full version anywhere, but the original can be found by visiting THIS page, and listening to MOONLIGHT SIGHT down the left of the page… Here is my remix
I like it!
I especially like the kind of organic mass formed by the different leads.
The stereo/sound transition between 0.25 and 0.35 is also great.
Personally I would change or delete the kind of break at 1.03 and 1.40.
