This is from the KVR forum. I have already purchased the soundsets and downloaded them and all went fine. Trusted it as it is from a well known poster and fxb patch writer at KvR. I am only spamming this here as it is for a good cause and you`ve also got a chance to win one of a number of VSTs
I have been talking to TotcProductions by e-mail and he has told me that not many people have entered this contest so the chances of winning a VST are quite high. Time is running out on this however so if you are interested it seems the sooner the better.
Anyhow just another bump for a worthy cause.
Edit: There is a second thread on this topic at KvR HERE
If they had an actual samplepack they’d get more entries, I’m sure! I don’t have most of the synths needed for the presets sold in the packs, but since it’s for a good cause and as there are nice prices involved I’m in.
I also only have one of the commercial synths that the presets are for but I found there are more than enough free synth presets to get an entry going for the comp. You also do get the Anamark player as a bonus which isn`t too bad.
I will pass on what you have said about a samplepack to Totc as I think he will be open to suggestions to improve any future competitions.
Good Luck with your entry mate! I look forward to see what you do with the presets!
EDIT: Just in case you missed it in the first thread linked, this was also said relevant to entries to the comp:
TotcProduction
Refering to a question on whether mangling effects etc were allowed to be used on the presets in entries.
It’s a competition that requires one to purchase sounds to enter, and the prize is a free sound??? Huh???! Did I interpret this correctly? Will someone please re-explain this?
edit: I know that it’s for a good cause, but it just seems a little weird not to have the samples already available in a package IF those samples are actually the ones required. I’d be interested in contributing how I can at this time to the cause, and my boyfriend donated quite a bit of money within 7 days after the tsunami, but right now money is not the way I am able to contribute. Currently I’m broke, which makes me unable to participate.
What you are buying is not actual sounds but fxb and fxp patches that you can use with VSTs that you already own. There are patches for both commercial VSTs, and free ones such as synth1, superwaveP8 and a fair few others.
The contest requires you to make a tune using only the synth fxb/p patches with the VSTs in your collection.
The prizes however are not more sounds but actual VSTs which are listed in category order in the quoted post.
If you are not able to participate now but would like to in the future, I will post back here if TOTC runs another contest like this. Any further publicity you can give this contest is surely helpful aswell although time is running out on it as it finishes on the 28th of this month.
Apparently the deadline is 11:59 pm (EST) tonight, and the results will be availablewithin 5 days from then. I will post a link to the results thread here when it is up at KvR.
I won the CronoX3. It`s not out yet so I may have to wait a while, but look forward to getting my hands on it, it looks pretty cool from the preview!
Just checked out the mayhem plug site, that TimeFnk delay looks pretty interesting. Also looks like you`ll be able to get some speaker busting noises from the others too .
