hi, i’m in a bit of a pickle… i was working on a track when renoise crashed with Rhino2, and then restarted Renoise and loaded the crashbackups file. then i worked on it quite a bit and saved it using a different filename. the end result was that now that i tried to go back to the crashbackups folder to load the original xrns that got lost in the crash, the file is no longer there. (i got a hotfix for rhino2 which fixed it so that it now loads the correctly saved preset changes - but now i don’t have the original crashbackups xrns anymore so i can’t get the original sounds back again)

please could it be made as a choice for the user to decide whether the crashbackups folder is emptied/the crashbackups-loaded xrns is retained or lost, a tickbox preferences entry would be preferable, but even an additional dialog button (load & keep) would be very useful.

i of course hope that there’s some method of getting back the original crashbackups song but i guess it’s to no avail?

Renoise never deletes crash backups. Probably you have deleted it manually, because you thought you don’t need it anymore?

If you have deleted it from the trashcan, you could try out the free ‘recuva’ software to retrieve lost files from the harddisk:
