i use battery 2 for my drumwork, could renoise handle battery’s job?
if you’re into very complex drums stuff like me, you may enjoy every nuance of Kontakt/Baktery, and at the moment, using ReNoise AND Kontakt is the best choice for me.
This is because the present RNI format has no multilayering, which is a major flaw for acoustic drums tracking.
Still, using Kontakt into ReNoise joins the power of the two: great sounding of Kontakt samples, together with extreme flexibility of ReNoise.
In the rare occasions in which I use synthetic drums, than I just use ReNoise, because you don’t need multilayering
i have tried battey 2 and some other drum samplers and synths but actually i find the best way for me is to use drum samples (no vsti’s) within renoise internal sampler. it geives me a lot of freedom to program beats and use renoise pattern effects…
one advantage of battery is that you can use velocity to trigger different samples… but i can live without that quite well.
and also, how would i set up battery to have each cell send audio to a separate track?
for synthetic drums: Sonic Charge µTonic v2 is worth a recommendation.
you have to assign each cell to a different midi channel (if possible, I don’t use Battery), and then create aliases in ReNoise, for each MIDi channel you have used.

No I do not use vst for drums. Only for my melodies I use them
i go with the alien. kontakt gives me the most flexibility in treating samples.
no point when you go for electronic sound but when you want to get
some realistic “living” sound, kontakt will give you stuff like random
pitching and such.
on the other side, its pretty amazing getting those 909 stuff autonomous.
