[done] Focus Issues With New Sample Recording Dialog

I find the new torn-loose sample recorder in the sample editor a bit cumbersome to use. I have to press “start” in the dialog, then focus the main window before space will start the playback. Am I missing something here?

Would it be possible to allow truly keyboard driven operation in the process of recording samples?

+1

You can midimap it and never focus it…
However the window must stay open.

I would love to start recording anywhere in renoise with a hotkey, without the recording window opened.

Well, I don’t always want to pull my BCR out when recording. Sometimes I might even be away from it

I think the old way of keeping focus was fine. Maybe a matter of globally grabbing key presses. It seems that when I press space to start the playback with the record dialog in focus, the space press is only send to the recording dialog. Since it doesn’t know what to do with it, the key press should be caught by the main window.

I personally think you pull up your own comfort a little bit too much above your available options here…
But for those who only would have a generic AT keyboard to work with, i would grant them the desire…

Since you didn’t but a smiley anywhere, I assume you’re not trying to be funny <_<

You’re right, I might just use my BCR, but it seems kinda backwards that I need to do that. It would be nice if renoise handled this just a little bit different. Isn’t this the first window or dialog that can be torn away from the main window? Others have requested that the mixer could also be in it’s own window. So we might as well start thinking about how keyboard shortcuts are handled in these cases, or…?

I could sell my BCR, if it helps :D

Sorry, i had one smiley in a line that i found a bit too rude while typing so the line got removed…
But ofcourse i can stil give you the smiley without the rude comment: :P

Deal!, come back later if you have sold it…

Done for the next beta. The sample recorder will only “eat up” Return & Escape keys now to start/stop/cancel/close. All other keys will be applied as usual…
