Dsp Audio Cards ?

Hi guys,
I have the problem that my system linux/3.0Ghz Hyperthread/1GRAM/Onboard ac97chipset
starts to lag heavy when i play some tunes from other renoisers or when i just use too much VST/LADSPA stuff.

I think it’s because the processor is not able to do all the audio processing with the FX and stuff in Realtime.

So i read about DSP Cards with own “audio processors” on them, but saw that the price is 10k€<
that suckz…

Is there a way to use “both” cpu’s in hyperthreating ,as a possible solution or do i really need a better cpu ?
Or are there some other audio cards, that can handle the audio processing instead of my cpu ?

Thanks alot.

also, read up Setting up linux guide. most important, read the section regarding “Realtime Threads”

Renoise does not support hyperthreading because hyperthreading did not improve cpu usage but degraded it when it regards Renoise (and audio and visual applications in general).
So if your CPU is a HT cpu, only one virtual core is enabled and this core performs better than when both cores are enabled
