Easy Pattern Effect Demo

yo - i’d posted this on the ihatebreakcore forum a while ago but thought it might be of use to anyone struggling to get their heads around the pattern effect commands for slicing up beats…

Very nice of you. :)

Great slice up btw.

ohh, thanks! this really cleared a few thing for me. :drummer:

i have a question about beat slicing. in this example i noticed, your loop is very good synched to have hihat, snare or bass drum strikes at sample offsets, multiple of #10, so applying of commands is easy and straight. however, when i do my own loop, hits are messed on various offsets and it is hard to apply such technique. my question is: do you compose your loops, having some rules for easier applying of offset commands in mind, or is there some other workaround, which i can’t come up with?

^ elfh - i usually pick a loop and then find the tempo from it, mostly by trial and error - and then set the renoise tempo to this tempo and cut the loop to 4 bars - this generally means that the hits are pretty close to the pattern lines anyway -

you can always tell which offset to use looking at the numbers along the bottom of the sample editor…

… it would be ace if the renoise sample editor allowed time stretching along the lines of acid/live tho, that would really make beat editing a breeze…

nsound: thanks for reply. about an hour ago i understood, that i can watch the sample editor, while changing bpm in renoise, so i can pick the right speed easier, seeing lpb ruler moving over my loop and then edit it a bit, if needed.

This reply is a bit late, but

Thanksfor the really kool example file to work with, I substituted other samples in the sample slot #00, then used Camelspace and I got instant craziness that sounded great.

However I have “the super newbie question of the day”? Why can’t I type in 09 in the effect column all I get is 9000. If I type 0 nothing happens and then I try to type a 9 and I get 9000 instead. What am I missing, here? Thanks in advance and thanks

James

just start typing with “9” in the second digit column, forget about first zero, it’ll appear automatically :)

thanks elfh for that 09 answer!
