It would be cool to save a spectrum view values within a file, and then reload the saved band levels into any EQ10 ; I’d like to feed an EQ10 with previously saved spectrum information.
This kind of feature could become usefull especially when mastering a group of different songs and prepareing a decent EP release ; it’s somehow difficult to reach the art of mixing one song, and it’s even more difficult to find a way to build a coherent sound that can be applied to a group of songs (imagine that you’ve found a good global sound for the first song of your EP, and you want to preserve this quality for the other songs, so you save the result of the spectrum analyser and re-use it as an EQ in the master track of all the songs of your EP).
Since we’ve got a very cool spectrum now, I’m often using the still peak fall and the 1/3 octave view, with 16384 block size, it gives me lots of informations about the maximum level reached in each frequency.
It wouldn’t probably be difficult to create a snapshot of the spectrum state, to access the dB values in each one of the frequencies bands, and to save them into a file (xml compatible format?), then load/paste it into an EQ graph, based on values stored in this file.
Renoise EQs are for now “limited” to 10 bands, so maybe should we extend it to 30 bands, btw enlarge the EQ view with an external editor (similar to the one you’ll find in the Instruments Envelopes), so that relationships between EQs and the spectrum analyser could become more natural.
Yes, Ozone seems to be a high quality tool for all my mastering needs, however its price is high, $249 ; I’ve also found another plugin called Mautoequalizer, from Meldaproduction, that seems to perform a backup of a spectral analysis, and then apply it on a traget track with a linar phase eq system. This plugin is a part of a bundle that… also has a price, $244…
There is another thing, that might be of interest, that kinda relates to this idea… It is using spectrum analyzer’s as envelope followers, to write automation… I am not sure how that is done, or even if it can be done in Renoise… But I think if, "It would be cool to save a spectrum view values within a file, and then reload the saved band levels into any EQ10 ; I’d like to feed an EQ10 with previously saved spectrum information. " Than I also think… “Cool to have that + a way to use the analyzers to write automation.” Maybe that is tool?
