Hello Renoisers,
there’s a small problem, I have, which I don’t know, how to circumvent:
I plugged a MIDI-controller (novation ZeRO SLMkII) to my computer.
Renoise learns its controls without problems.
Now I’d like to assign all value providing controls - sliders and
knobs - to volumes and pannings in renoise. This works perfectly too,
but if a add/delete a track, things get messed up, because renoise
seems to map MIDI CCs to track numbers . (I’ll write a suggestion for
this too).
There’s a silly trick to avoid that problem with send-tracks but,
it’s not the method how send-tracks were meant to be used.
Does anyone have a clue ?
(Automap<->Duplex don’t work for me, please ask back, if you
want details for this! Thanks.)
Thanks for reading & regards,
René

Yes, this is true for the ‘track mixer device’, but not for any device in the DSP Chain.
For example, if you add a simple gainer device and map it, this will keep the mapping intact as you insert/remove tracks.

I have the Zero SL MKII as well, works fine here.
Did you remember to load the supplied automap configuration and set the input/output ports?
(instructions on where to find the automap file is provided from virtual control surface in Duplex itself)

There are “direct” mappings to mixer vol/pan too, which do move around with the track. To use them open the MIDI mapping dialog, expand the “Available & Active Mappings” thing, then click on “Parameter Mappings” -> “Track XX” -> “Mixer” -> “Volume”.

Hello Danoise,
hello Taktik,
I tried direct mappings, which worked, and I did it with devices (Gainer),
which also worked.
But now I realised, I had to configure my device on the ->automap<- side,
so here I finally could bind certain control changes to every configurable
gizmo I wanted. I think I got the clue, how things work.
Now I’ll try to bind things against Duplex, then I’ll see…
Thank you both for your answers!
Regards,
René
