When I delete instrument [or sample] from song, or swap it with some other sample, data still remains of deleted sample somewhere in song, right?
Is there any way I can click somewhere on a button and ReNoise will point me in pattern, where datas for that instrument is typed?
For example, I swapped instrument 06 with instrument 12 and deleted instrument 06. Then I would like to see where is instrument 12 playing [which is very hard to find if I have over 20 tracks] Is there any “button” that will POINT me [or highlight?] everything in pattern that is played with selected sample?
This option existed [if I remember correctly] in OSS [and was extremly useful] If it exist in ReNoise, plz sorry, I couldn`t find it [as I looked in Advanced Edit tab].
When I need something like that, I use the Advanced Edit features to chage ptch of an isntrument in the pattern. This way, I will notice “something” changing on the video, si I see wheree the instrument is.
This sucks, I know… Anyway, the future will be better: XML based documents will give us the ability to open the module into a text editor and simply search for what we are looking for, and even make a find-and-replace.
A good idea is to ask the user if he wants do delete the notes awell, when deleting an instrument. I will propose this idea to the developers, thanks
Thanx! You saved me lots of time of searching
Anyway - this would be great idea to add in next release?
For example, type source instrument you want to look in track, click on button and everything that was played with selected ins will show up HIGHLIGHTED [this would be best option, I believe]?
a search text field has been already suggested, but I can’t say if it will be implemented.
on a side note, about what I’ve written above regarding the ability do delete notes togheter with an instrument, actually you can already do this:
Advanced Edit => Note and instrument transforming => Delete
will delete any occurrence of the source instrument.
I use “swap” and “remap” all the time, but believe me or not, I’ve never noticed the “delete” button until now
