Frosty Pics

It’s been about -14C here during the day for a week and god knows how cold at night, though there hasn’t been any snow, just a thick layer of frost. So yesterday it was time to get my ass out of the warm house and snap some last pics for 2008. The frost had formed into strange shapes over the week, so I had to get some close ups to go with usual landscapes:

I’ve already taken pics of the same scene at sunset the year before, so I was after something a bit different this time. Turned out to pretty easy, since this time the sky was an odd orange/brown and zooming in showed small clouds still reflecting the light from the already set sun. Turning around 180 degrees was completely a different scene, with the sky blue and pink. A couple of minutes later after moving to a spot where I could look east down on Aviemore, the scene had changed yet again: a strange browny pink with the land a frosty green.

But of course I also had to get a pic of the sunset with heather and weird frost in the foreground…

Wow, thanks, these are really great pics.
I wish it would look like that here in the winter. We only have that -14 to -20C average every day but everything is just covered with dozens of centimeters of snow and everything is the exact same meld of black and white.

We only had snow for like a day so far this winter. :(

YIKES! Looks cold indeed!

I went boarding in Ax les Thermes (france) a week ago, it was awesome:

Achenar, you take the best pics man. Love them. Keep it coming!

Here, we haven’t gotten a flake of snow yet. But here in North Carolina, it used to only be barely snow-able anyway (except in the mountains), and now with global warming… Well, we haven’t gotten a decent sized snow since 2003. :( Too bad too because I’ve been dying to go sledding with my son.

Thanks chaps, I’ve also upgraded all of the older photos on my site in size to 1024 x 768 pixels: http://www.earthenrecords.com/photography.php
