help to achieve that bass sound

Hello renoisers,

i don’t know if this is the right place to post my question, so please tell me if I’m wrong.
I’m trying to reproduce the bass sound of benny benassi’s song “satisfaction” (i guess everybody knows it, anyway here you can find it:

I know it’s basically a sawthoot oscillators, so i made the set up that you find in the attached song here:

obviously something’s missing…the original sound is much more “dry” than mine.
Can you give me some suggestions?
This is a kind of “study”!

thank you

You’re overthinking this. While Benassi switches up the sounds a bunch of times, so I don’t know which one you’re trying to get exactly, here’s what he does for pretty much all of them.

His bass sound isn’t just one sound, but a layered series of sounds. In Benassi’s case, he just has a sub and a top. A mistake that a lot of people make at the beginning is trying to accomplish too much with one sound. You’re trying to get too much bass frequency with your top and therefore you’re muddying it up and making it sound “wet”. Use a simple sine or a lowpassed square for your bottom of your bass, and use your default square wave that you made for your top.

Here’s what I came up with. I didn’t want to get the notes and pitch mod exactly, but I tried to get there timbrally.
