Stream a full movie, free! High Tech Soul is the first documentary to tackle the deep roots of techno music alongside the cultural history of Detroit, its birthplace. Featuring Derrick May, Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson, and many, many more.
Thank you for sharing this link. Very interesting and informative. Model 500 kicks ass. I have some Juan atkins stuff as well. It was nice to see the faces behind the scene.
I have this on DVD, nice documentary!
In the bonus section there’s a part where May, Atkins & Saunderson talk shit about Paul Oakenfold, that’s funny stuff I have a feeling they are not the first ones to speak bad about Oakenfold, since he obviously is a real prick (!), but it’s always fun to see respectable “icons” like these house gurus get into that good ol’ competitive-shit-talking-mode, that we all do once in a while. Immature? no, human.
yeah i saw this a while ago. i thought it was abit rubbish though. i mean all they do is spout a heap of nonsense rhetoric about them being innovators, elevators and stuff. i learned nothing from this film, its just a big tedious pat on the back for the artists, it has no real interesting content. i like the music so i was excited to see this but really i’d have got more out of just listening to some of the records again for 90 minutes. really, as a documentary this is crap, in my opinion.
sweet, good to see a lot of Ghostly International on there, they’re based out of Ann Arbor (where I live). Detroit reminds me of post-apocalyptic ghost town. Its really quite depressing.
