How Do You Insert An Entire Row Into A Pattern?

Hi, I’m sure this is a simple question. If I have a pattern and all my tracks start at row 00, I want to insert 3 rows at 00 so that all track rows move down to row 04. Now I know I can do this by pressing Insert on each track but I have a lot of tracks. There must be a shortcut - can somebody please tell me what it is? I printed the Keyboard Shortcuts out. “Insert new Row in Pattern” is on the document but doesn’t have an assigned key. Do I have to assign this myself?

I hope this isn’t a dumb question… but I’m feeling dumb this evening.

repeat this: 3x insert (move row), 1x tab (switch pattern), 3x insert, 1x tab, etc…

I work with too many patterns as well, but this costs me seconds.
Seconds I can miss. As for your other question: yes, you’ll have to
assign it yourself :)

there is an unassigned shortcut for this:

go into the keyboard preferences and search for:

Pattern Editor => Insert new Row in Pattern

then assign the action to whatever shortcut you want

edit: overlooked your question about assigning, sorry, so Botb’s reply is correct: you have to assign it by yourself (I assigned it to LCTRL+LSHIFT+INS)

Got it! Thanks guys!

can’t you also select the portion you want to have moves using the mouse, hold left mouse click on top & drag the whole selection downwards? That or ctrl+x (=cut) & ctrl+v (=paste) the selection downwards.

Hehehe. I’m obviously too impatient to press heaps of key sequences or even touch my mouse - its the trait of a programmer.

…And patient enough to press insert 3 times on each track.

Ctrl + A, 3x Insert ?
