How to prevent notes being put in a new track column upon recording

Hello!

So, yeah!

I press right shift to record, and the editor drops notes in a new column.

How do I get it to always drop notes in the same column and not create a new one?

For the benefit of other beginners who may be scratching their head over the same thing, it’s polite to share the solution if you found it :slight_smile:

To play/record notes in a single note column monophonic style, look at the Instrument Properties — found in either the Sampler, Plugin or MIDI tab — and then enable the Mono button.

(In previous versions of Renoise, this was enabled/disabled via the Chord Mode toggle switch in the Pattern Editor, but in Renoise 3.0+ this is now a per-instrument property.)
