How To Solve The Lack Of Audio-in ?

I’m contemplating of using a sound card/interface as a mixer.
Most interfaces (if not all) don’t use built-in effects e.g. EQ .
In Cubase you can filter the input through a VST effect but since there is no audio-input in renoise how can one solve it as things are now ?

I would also like to use as few host programs as possible.
So I hope there is way to solve it without running e.g. Cubase and Renoise at the same time.

Got some answers from another forum.
Programs like Spinaudio’s Virtual Mixing Console works the way I was asking for.
Problem is (of course) that it use ASIO so I need to run Renoise in Directsound for it to work.

Forget that for a moment.
It solves half the problem, there is no record function.

i’d try to use Live!/Audigy/Audigy2 with KX drivers which allow to edit DSP microcode where you could put real-time fx’s right on hardware input.

I’m not a fan of Creative cards (blew the digital inputs on my DD5.1 receiver).

I guess I’ll wait for the rewire support, audio-in capability or mixer/VST host with multitrack record functions.

here they say that you could use EnergyXT VST plugin.

Give it a look and see if it fits your needs.
