hi how do i make it so that when i quit renoise in rewire slave mode that it stops ableton live rewire master playback? it’s really kinda sad.
I think this depends on the settings for the ReWire master. If you stop playback in Renoise and the master doesn’t respond, won’t be much you can do otherwise. (This is probably also depending of how your ReWire sync mode is set in the audio properties!)
I meant when quitting Renoise, master stops playback. How do i disable that
when i click “new song” in renoise it “Releases the old song”, ableton live (rewire master) stops playback, and then i have to enable playback from ableton live (rewire master).
ok. it seems that this kind of behaviour will only happen if im at Full Transport Sync.
switching to BPM & Bar Sync will make it so that when you quit renoise (rewire slave) or click new song, or load an old song, ableton live won’t receive a stop message.
thank you vV.
my next question (fools always have a second question ready) is: what is the difference between FTS and B&BS? i see that if i press stop in renoise, ableton live will continue playing, but if i press play in renoise, it will take renoise a while to continue playback, it almost seems to “scroll a bit faster” for a while and then actually starts playback.
second: if i am using B&BS and Renoise is ReWire Slave, how do i enable Renoise so that it will be able to sample from an audio input? all audio inputs seem to be disabled in renoise rewire slave mode.
That are three questions in total.
B&BS mode has been added to allow more live flexibility. The FTS mode doesn’t allow you to jump to specific sequences in the song without affecting the Master sequence position, B&BS does allow you to jump to any specific position in the sequencer, leaving the master playing at its current position. When you restart the song, Renoise tries to catch up with the next available measure.
ReWire slaves don’t get control of the soundcard, only the master gets control of the soundcard, this is a limitation of ReWire. If you need to sample inside Renoise, you need to set Renoise as the master or simply sample inside the master which has led to the following question in the past:How can i get audio send from the master to the slave:You can’t, also this is a limitation of ReWire.
so hmm… does this mean that i have to run ableton live (rewire master), renoise (rewire slave) and renoise (no-rewire, but midi’d up to ableton live midi-clock) in order to be able to use renoise as a sampler in a rewire situation?seems really heavy on the cpu…
I doubt you can run two hosts simultaneously claiming the same soundcard (unless you use directsound).
What does Ableton lack that you don’t want to use Ableton as your input recorder?
Perhaps you would like to try using Reaper as a ReWire master instead?
coreaudio enables me to run as many daws i want and receive audio from inputs at the same time. ableton lacks tracker, sample editor, my scripts, everything.
i use ableton live for live gigs. i dont use reaper for live gigs, so i dont use reaper as rewire slave.
