I’m trying to learn about the new Jack transfer feature.
So I started a Jack server, launched renoise then hydrogen. Everything worked fine, and when Jack Transport is activated, both softs are synchronized and all. I tracked a basic bassline with renoise and played it simultaneously with a beat in hydrogen.
It sounded ok but… is it possible to “control” the sound that comes from hydrogen directly in Renoise ? I mean for example, can I somehow assign the hydrogen beat to a renoise track and therefore control the volume or apply effects on it from renoise ?
Then I could use renoise to record the mix. Or do I have to use another software that “gathers” everything (hydrogen+renoise) ? and if yes, how ?
you already have all the jack-transport synchronization thing working between Renoise and Hydrogen
you want to route the sound of Hydrogen inside Renoise to record it or put realtime effects on it.
It looks like renoise can take inputs - but I don’t know what you can do with it, I never tried. Maybe others will be able to tell us if inputs are here only to pass through DSP chains, or if you can record.
Of course, you would have to use QJackCtl patchbay to plug Hydrogen’s outputs into Renoise’s inputs. Sorry, I can’t help more than this.
In case Renoise can’t do recordings, you can still use Ardour to do multitrack recording.
Yes the jack-transport works fine between Renoise and Hydrogen.
Exactly. And I don’t know how to do that (if that’s possible).
I thought this could be done in Renoise (select Hydrogen as an input and assign it to a track), but I guess you’re right, this has more to do with QJackCtl patchbay, and my post probably belongs to a Jack forum.
