My tip would be make music every day if you can and soon you will making wonders.
Always the same tips
Make your mix widerā¦think āMID-SIDEā
And after work on the āloudnessā
Your track also have a lack of sub bass
Nice attempt here. I like that youāre not shy of dissonance or skittering atypical rhythms, but knowing youāre an autechre fan, thatās no surprise.
On a broad-scale view, Iād suggest starting to think in terms of how you can get the music to breatheā¦ what can you do to imbue these sounds with life? As it stands, the sonic elements themselves are fairly static, and the repetition (without variation) stands out and draws attention to itself, which keeps the listener from engaging more deeply with the music and what youāre trying to express/convey.
I would start by trying to inject some subtle variation into pretty much all of the sounds. percussion elements included. This can be done by using random lfos in the modulation section of each instrument to subtly (or not so subtly) modulate pitch, volume, panning, filter characteristics, etc. with the rate turned all the way down. Thus each hit triggers a new, slightly different set of values. this will add a lot of life. You can also do this with macros tied to different values, and modulating those with the instrument macros device.
Iād also aim to add texture and depth to the pad sound, maybe with some subtle bit crushing or fold/shaping distortion and some reverb to create a deeper sense of physical space. Or even add another layer or two of subtle background ambience. maybe some field recording of industrial space?
Iām not crazy about the acid line as a main thematic element per se, but thereās plenty of time to dig deep into sound design as you get more comfortable/familiar with renoise and production/composition in general.
My two cents
Keep at it!!
Well, the changes are quite subtle I think the snare still could be less bright, or less transienty, so it goes more to the background. Or more remove the kick form the snare hit. I think the bass sounds better now. Donāt forget that I am deaf.
Donāt worry, I wonāt, itās obvious.
Except the cut of the frequencies above 10KHz I havenāt changed anything in terms of the snare.
But compared to the original there are some changes:
a) dropped most of the exciters
b) turned the cut-off of the bass a little bit back
c) cutted higher frequencies (snare, chord, first lead, some background instruments)
d) boosted the drums by less use of a clipper
e) replaced the noise of the bass with a sine
Now the last thing I will have do is to boost some of the background instruments by increasing the mids and adapt the volume of the softer instruments to the new conditions. And maybe I will dull the bass just a little bit. Afterwards I probably wonāt touch this song anymore in my whole life.
But thanks again, the hint with the sub of the bass was the most effective fix I think.
This track originates from a collaboration with Adrezonar (@Adrezonar ) and was completely done in SunVox:
It was my first time working with SunVox and itĀ“s a great piece of software imo. I had so much fun to play with the modules and connecting them.
Any suggestions on the mix are welcome (as always )
Where did you mix it? it sounds fantastic!!!SunVox is great i made 2 tracks with it but did it live. The arranger it has makes it easy to play in live and record.I havent made anything since those 2 tracks because it cant record live vocals. Can you record live now from a mic?
DidnĀ“t try to record live, but I guess it should work. Mixing was done in SunVox and @Adrezonar used some plugins in Audacity to do the final cut. But nothing fancy, just some airwindows plugins.
still needs some tweaking, though.
Old school track like me .Its coming along nicely
Old song made with Renoise.
Haā¦Pretty much full-up here but just to addā¦
My channel on AloneTone-
-One mostly finished in renoise
-One short tune finished in Aero Studio
-One short tune finished in SunVox
-One intro-only done in Aodix
-One mish-mash done in Project5
-Rhodes examples done in Reason 3
Something oriental
I posted this in a separate thread but I may as well spam it here!New track available on band camp, video below of the track running in renoise
You can post in both places no problem i do the same.Nice track
I would call this an ethnic track but i like how you experiment with different stuff, experimentation=progress
Okay ā¦ This was intense
at 300 bpm it better be!
nice one!
love the lilt of 3/4, 6/4ā¦ itās a nice stylistic juxtaposition against all the crunch
good shit, brudda!
