I’d like to see the instrument FX section be able to receive input from an “FX send” device. This would open up a lot of opportunities for the new xrni format. For example, the ability to do parallel processing would allow for some very advanced effects such as vocoders and multiband compressors and it would also be useful for abstracting and reusing different effect chains. This might seem redundant with the introduction of doofers, but maybe these two methods could be unified in some way?

(The Signal is routed into FX Module 01’s FX Chain 01. This input is processed by the chain. The device then outputs the signal from FX Chain 02.)
The device would work just as a regular send device, however, it would send to an instrument rather than a track.
Since all the architecture appears to already be in place, I doubt this would be too hard to implement.
