Kieran aka dblue a fellow friend and Renoise member passed away

I’ve known Kieran (dBlue / illformed) since the late ‘90s. Looking back, I don’t think we ever really lost touch. We only met in person once, in 2011, when we spent a day wandering around Berlin together. What a great guy.

Without him, I probably would have stopped making tracks years ago. He always had a new idea, a fresh perspective, or something inspiring to share. He even convinced me to become a Renoise beta tester for a while.

I’m genuinely sad because he was one of those rare people who remain a constant in your life, even if you only speak once a year. He had such a positive spirit, and somehow he kept my connection to Renoise and the tracking scene alive for years.

Yeh, I’d like get any photos that anyone feels would be great to add too. of course this is gonna be free of charge available for download. I’m gonna pass it out to everybody as well…

Really sad news to hear. Gone far too young. Love and support to his family and those close to dblue, and warmth to many here that were close with him. A towering example of how someone with kindness and creativity can really be a pillar of a project and community. His mark is all over Renoise - just look at some of those internal FX and compare them to Glitch. I have many fond memories of Kieran from years ago. He was always nice and collaborative with me. I remember when Glitch was a command prompt exe and we had great conversations with ideas of where he could take that experiment - and it evolved into the legendary Glitch and Glitch2. I still use those plugs in my production. I even bought a merch tshirt! So thankful for all he has done. Kieran poured love into those tools and you can feel it. I’ll never forget him. <3

This is one of the most sad news this year… Kieran was the one who added me to the Renoise demo artists back in 2010. He also gifted me a copy in renoise back then when i was in syria and unable to purchase any copy of Renoise… Then i botained the Glitch plugin and it still for sure one of the most used plugins on my chains.. What a genious guy he was. Rest in peace my friend, Renoise family will always remember you and miss you…

Shocking news, very sad.

As a PHP developer myself, he was a legend to me. Glitch started as a PHP script, and it was a revolutionary idea at the time. He literally turned an entire musical style into a plugin.

He leaves behind a massive legacy in the tracker scene and computer music as a whole. Rest in peace, dblue.

Damn. I always assume we’re all still 15 year olds nerding out on crappy 90s/00s systems. Dude made an awesome contribution, RIP

Glitch is now available for free as a VST3 plugin. It can be downloaded from Illformed.com, where a memorial page has also been added. This was the wish of his sister, his closest relative.

My condolences to all of you.

dBlue took the time to help me when I was beginning with LUA, and he even had a 2-3 hour Skype call where he tried to help me understand what LUA was and how to figure scripting Renoise out.

He was instrumental in me picking up working on Paketti and I always hoped to schedule a new call with him in 2024-2025 but we could not figure out a schedule that would have worked for him.

A person who takes the time to help someone else out of sheer good will is rare and he was exactly such a gem.

I just read the memorial page. Damn, he was young! A few months younger than me. I always wonder why people die at such an age.

Hi guys, I’m new here, this is the first plugin that I ever bought in my first years of FL Studio, recently I started to create again music for my videographer work and the first plugin that I’ve bought (literally 2 weeks ago) is Glitch2!!!
It’s terrifying think that I bought it when he is already passed away, I never know him personally but I’m sad and I miss him like I can miss an old friend.
Rest in peace Kieran :cry::heart:

damn, just got the horrible news… very sad :frowning: he was the first i got to know from here nearly 2 decades ago, and was always so helpful and supportive. And an awesome composer too

What was the cause of his death?

Damn.

I didn’t know him personally, just through the forum.

Rest well dBlue! Thanks for your art!

the world feels strangely quieter now. thankyou dBblue.

I didn’t know him personally either. He answered a couple of my (noobish) questions here on the forum a couple times saving me some sweat and tears. Sad new nonetheless. Thanks for the support, dblue! I appreciate it!
