Is there any prospect of adding Audio Unit support to the Mac version of Renoise?
Or do I have to fight in a BeatBattle to get that feature? 
yes, it will be added in the future; we of course know this is a key feature.
I’ve just stumbled across Renoise - very nice program! I want to buy a license, but only when there is AU support. Can you enlighten us as to when that might be, please? 
version 2.0 will contain AU support; according to our main developer, he won’t release 2.0 without implementing it.
cannot give you a release date, though. we are already working at 2.0, but it’s really at the initial stage.
