could someone tell me what a grave is? i know its a little character like this §
i just cant figure out which key it is!
if i have found it then it doesnt work, i was under the impression that the key usually below the esc key an above the tab key was it but it no workie, am i doing sumthin wrong?
i went through an remapped a ton of keys a couple weeekends ago an the other day i went to use some of them an they no workie. screw doing that again. like putting salt in an open wound. since i use an ibook im absent the num pad so i have to remap a bunch of keys in order to use them, i guess i could buy a wireless usb keyboard maybe that would be cooler. an alot frekin easier.
anyway which ones the grave?
grave is this key: `
on an american keyboard it’s the most upper-left one. i guess it’s the same on a mac keyboard.
Grave is `.
The word comes from French (Accent-Grave and is pronounced sort of awksawned graphe) and is just to assign a term to one of the character accentuations.
There is also Accent aigu (') and Accent Circonflex (^)
hmmm… well ` is a character that’s used extensively in shell scripting for posix compliant shells. i figured out what grave meant because of trial and error in renoise, but i’ve always read the character referred to as “backtick” or “back quote”
edit: however it would appear that (at least according to wikipedia) the character’s proper name is “the grave accent”

i think its startin to make sense now, thanks everyone for your help!
