Make A Pattern Go To The Next In The Middle Of Itself

in Skale and FT2 when you wanted to cut a pattern in half you just had to insert the letter D in the fx part of the track in whatever line you wanted

tried it and nothing and don’t seem to find that anywhere

i’m making a structure with 3/3 or whatever, like a waltz and have to cut it at line 47

have anyone else ever made a Waltz in a tracker? made lots of them, just love it

thanks :)

FB00

Or you can simply change the length of your pattern to be shorter.

You can use FBXX, where XX is the line number of the next pattern you’ll jump to, 00 for the start of the pattern.

But you can also make your patterns longer or shorter (the “64” displayed to the left of the “Track 01” title, at the top of the line numbers column, is the length of your current pattern)

You have a “FX” menu just under the tracks that will give you all commands and their effects.

thanks guys… as always there it is, in the right place

Renoise is not only great but also a great work of design, being good design not a pretty thing (what Renoise also is) but something practical and useful

please allow me to show my love for Renoise for a couple days more even if i already sound childish :D

don’t worry, these forums are very used to that ^^

:D

Although I’m not an Apple fan, Steve Jobs said something similar: “Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works.”

Sorry if I’m asking the obvious, but can you jump to another pattern than the next?

Not with commands. Your pattern sequence is played… sequentially, so you need to duplicate pattern numbers at every position you want them to play.

Now, while your sequence is playing, you can alter it “live” with various options as explained here : Pattern Sequencer - Renoise User Manual

One cannot mute FB commands. This a little annoying, if one could then one could use parts of patterns in the pattern arranger… and control this with mutes - great for arranging.

An FB command is a direct control, the mute mode is purely for the audio-control, nothing else. You cannot mute any other command either, though if the command is influencing the audio-stream, you won’t hear the result when the track is muted, but the process is still executed nevertheless.

You can kinda mute commands by hiding them unless things have changed in 2.5. Don’t use the first pattern effect column but the second (or later if you need more than two for other effects) and hide to cause the pattern to skip past it.

Not sure if this can be assigned to keyboard or MIDI and it is a bit fiddly with the mouse and can only be done from the Pattern Editor though.

I’m aware of the live queueing stuff. But goto another pattern than next would be an easy way to setup loops that you could jump between with the triggering stuff you just linked to. I don’t see myself selecting a number of patterns for a loop with the mouse on stage…

The scripting engine allows some powers for this kind, but whether that is practical has to be seen…
