Mario Auf Lsd

hi,

i hate that bass melo bug at 0:50… but it takes so long to edit and render… well it’s happy…
regards…

I thought it was cute. :) The instrumentation reminded me a bit of a tune in “Puggs In Space”-demo on the Amiga-500, where this would fit along nicely. This was much better mixed though! :)

I really enjoyed the sound of this. Can imagine playing a platform game to it, only not getting annoyed. Nice work.

That’s q’te, never knew detoned chords can sound pleasant.

I really had fun listening to this peice, thanks for sharing! Have you got more like this?

It’s a bit busy in places - lots of counter-melodies to absorb - to me, that sort of complexity is passable at the end of a peice, but with so much going on, my ears had trouble finding a point of reference (except the percussion/bass)… So much going on in the mid/high frequencies, maybe a tad too much reverb making the problem a little worse - but the textures you’ve come out with are great. The percussion is snappy, I’m really happy with that snare.

Try EQing down some frequencies in your mixdown around about the 500-600Hz area, they are a bit strong and I can hear a few phasing problems in that area too. And I think there’s an instrument at around the 6K mark which is interfering with the melody a bit. Also, EQing UP at around 8000Hz in your mixdown, will give it some air/balance.

Overall, nice and enjoyable - a little musically intense in places and it was exacerbated by your mid-range happy mixing. I am a sucker for cheese though, especially warm punchy cheese with lots of flavour. :P

hi… thanks for all the replys… cool…

mickrip, that’s really true what you say, i listened to it some times after having posted here, and i noticed, that it’s much coming from mids… to be honest, (of course) i don’t like the sound, actually. because sometimes when you zap around radio programs or just listening to eurosport, you hear pieces of music with sooo super sound, much air, espacially airy and still punchy bass drum/melo, at the same time realistic sounding mids, pleasent sounding highs, “real world melodies”… singers, perfect stereo, and then i’m so amazed and have no clue how they mix something so much pro-like… cry

500-600hz, can that also be the e-bass?..the synths might be it, they have a flanger… well they’re not so good, and the e-bass is to middy and hard and it got to loud, it’s simsynth with +10db at 2000hz or so…

i’m babbling, but a main problem with editing this tune also was that the cpu (athlon64 at 1600mhz) went to 80/90%, renoise gui didn’t really react always, i had 200ms asio buffer and hammered on the space bar, because it didn’t stop playing…found out that panic-function on a short cut doesn’t react as often as the panic knob itself… maan… that’s all because of the “infernal guitar” patch, no oversampling or so, but used a lot cpu…
i really want to pay instrumentalists and singers somewhen, and buy me adam or mackie monitors…

well… i got another one from 2004 that i still like (my other tunes are rather too crappy)

this has much heart in it, even kinda punchy drums and loud mixing, but it’s not warm or so…

http://www.schwarzwald-neuhof.de/shruggy/s…lubb_techno.mp3 <-- this one is such a rather crappy thing, it’s a silly sounding major-chord-only tune with mario-lsd-theme, boring intro, much to much hihat, no salsa/samba/safriduo whatever cool sounding rhythms, rather too plain boring drums… :(…eq helps a bit…

ok…byee… :)

Hehe, kewl :)
Maybe on the mario tune there is a little bit too much hall/delay… (and it is far too short ;)
