I’m trying to find a way to use the Renoise instrument editor’s sampler to make some effects device of current track (Compressor, Bus Compressor, or Maximizer) behave similarly to the following Audacity Limiter setting:
Compression curve:
- Threshold (db) -3.0
- Make-up target (db) -3.0
- Knee width (db) 0.0
Smoothing:
- Lookahead (ms) 1.0
- Relsease (ms) 10.0
This setting captures the highest and thinnest peaks and reduces them by a maximum of -3dB, leaving the rest of the audio waveform intact.
The idea is to load the entire song sample into the sampler using SamRender tool, and then use a track device to process the sample with the sampler’s TFX button.
The image is a real example. You can see several peaks in the thick ball on the right, which have been subtly reduced, leaving the rest intact. This way, the entire audio waveform can easily be boosted by up to 3dB with an amplifier.
Is there any way to achieve the exact same result with Renoise and yours track effects devices without using Audacity?
