christ, my pc just f***ed up, because it didnt add 80 files to the winamp playlist but instead opened 80 winamps. I hate stuff like that. and I was typing a reply here, so I have so start again. sucks.
Okay, however, I got not fired
it was one of those fixed trial jobs, I worked there for 3 months unpaid and got a letter telling those who mind that I am a nice guy who does great work and all.
it was a real great experience over all, and I learned alot, good and bad.
I do graphics almost as long as I do music, but I did those mostly by myself and never with a real goal or as a job, so it was new for me to work according to the ideas a client wants to be done, that was new and I did good, I guess.
it was a small company here in my hometown called kocmoc (thats russian for space and their website is german, but anyway). They do mostly exhibition design, I did work for two project there, one being a huge exhibition about the history of a town and the other one being a moving expidition of a group of women living on the countryside.
it was really great, I did alot of stuff there like constructing furniture, making designs (colors, typography, layout), planning room-layouts, browsing the net for information about lightning and stuff, visualizing our ideas and such … after the three months the boss said that he would actually think about hiring me if he could (they can’t, simple money-reasons, and it was clear before I started that this wouldnt happen), but atleast he told me that they would hire me on a monthly basis if they get big jobs in the future and simply need another “brain” to help them.
The downside however was the huge amount of time it took, I worked there atleast 9 hours a day (including a break for lunch), so my days were like : getting up 6.30, breakfast with “da kids ™”, bringing my daughter to school (travelling through half the city, takes me about 1 hour), going to work, coming home at 7pm, spending some more time with “da kids ™” and my girlfriend and then going to bed totally exhausted …
so basically this was abit too hard for me, if I could work only 3 days a week or 6 hours a day I would gladly take that job, but those 9 hours were just too much.
