Can renoise assign wheels and faders from midi device like this “Behringer BCF2000 MIDI Controller with Faders” http://www.zzounds.com/item–BEHBCF2000 or similar to vst parameters, and of course record all the movement and changes made during recording. It’s very comfortable, can renoise do this?
MIDI feedback is the ability of a knob/fader (I mean a real knob/fader, those made of plastic which are on your MIDI controller ) to follow the changes of their associated parameters inside the application.
if Renoise would support MIDI feedback, when you move a slider in Renoise, its associated knob/fader on the controller would move accordingly and automatically.
of course, the controller itself should support MIDI feedback (BCF does).
So, without feedback, when I’ll control volume, for example I’ll have such situation:
press record in renoise
play instrument and put fader on top (the loudest)
stop record
put fader to the bottom
press record in renoise
play instrument and put fader on top
stop record
Will volume be twice louder as at step 3?
Other words, how fader affected to volume?
bottom - silence and top loudest?
Or midi device send difference in movements?
Or in renoise this is configurable?
And what if I have regulator without min and max positions?
I have the BCR2000, which is the knob version of the BCF2000; in BCR, the knobs have endless rotation, so there is no lowest and highest point of rotation, and the scenario is similar to what you have described.
the BCF should be different: putting the slider to bottom should send value 00 to the bound parameter, while the top position should send 7F.
but it’s a cool and very useful luxury feature. If you play live and you have a value partly automated and partly want to play it live you avoid a “jump” when touching a knob bound to that value because the knob is exactly at the same spot as the value.
and apart from that it’s not too hard to do either, just pass the value to a midi-out-port.
I want to record a track in pattern(with vsti) and then copypaste this track in next patterns, without any effects. Can I then press record from the begining, and manipulating by potentiometers from BCF set desired values of some parameters to track? Or I need to do it live during first recording in renoise?
midi feedback would be a nice addition to renoise, this would automatically light up the leds on my bcr2000 when playing a track for spectacular disco mode.
