Modulated volume should be 0 but goes on longer?

I’m seeing notes sometimes last longer than what I would expect looking at my volume modulation.

I’m including an instrument that demonstrates the problem I’m having.

Seems to have something to do with the filter - less resonance and notes will be shorter.

Strange case indeed, I would expect only a self-resonating filter to exhibit this behaviour. And here, the resonance is really not that high.
Seems that somehow, the Volume LFO keeps producing minuscule values that affect the voice (even though you’ve added that Fader), and the filter then picks this up… Hm.

Isn’t this because the developers decided that the fiter ( and not the amp.envelope ) is the last stage in the signal flow ?

( hint for user definable signal flow )

Ahh I see now ,almost no resonance , which rules out self osc.out .

strange indeed

Can you just put your adsr last to ensure no offsets get added back after the adsr fades the release to 0?

The lfo is set to addition, which should be able to put a positive value back into the control signal. The ‘fade to’ value of the first fader is more than 0. The fade time on the last fader is one second and it’s delay time is almost 10 seconds, so you have to wait almost 11 seconds before it turns the signal down to 0. So, it seems to make sense that the audio rings out for quite a while.

The filter may seem to be related, because the audio seems to disappear after a bit. But, i think it’s simply a case of it wiping out most audible frequencies. Of course, if you turn the resonance up enough it boosts enough easy to hear frequencies back up.

The fade time on the last fader is one second and it’s delay time is almost 10 seconds

Wow. I missed that detail. Yeah, that definitely explains the behavior…not a bug then.

@MattD: if you’re looking for something to close the signal down, I think you’re better off replacing the last fader with an AHDSR or Envelope device - they both have a proper release stage.

I added a second ADSR and adjusted the release so it is working more or less like the fader. It isn’t necessarily clear just from looking at the graph that you can’t use a fader to control the release stage, but it makes sense.
