I used to have both, A7X and A7 at home for a while. Went for the older A7 in the end - they sure do not sound as beautiful as the X model, but offer a much more honest freq response. The A7X felt hyped in the bass range and didn´t reproduce the mid range as brilliant as the A7. The ones I got suffered from heavy port noise while trying to mix deeper freqs around 50 - 60hz. Adam told me to retrofit flanges into the ports to elimante that problem - obviously a lot of customers had similar issues. I passed I´d buy them again (or prolly the A8X) for my living room to just listen to music, but wouldn´t want to mix on them.
Again, choosing the right monitor depends a hell lot on your personal preferences and the room you´re working in - best would be to get some pairs and compare them in your enviroment.
