I find it extremely awkward that when editing values in the volume, pan, delay, and the value portion of effect columns I only can edit the single digit that the cursor is currently at.
It makes much more sense being able to edit the value as a whole.
For example, I have 2B in the volume column. I want it to be 30. Currently, one has to do thus -> type 3, move right, type 0. Wouldn’t it be much more easier and intuitive if we can simply enter 30?
Don’t think so. Has been suggest as a possible function for when EditStep=0 and on those numbers but would break too many people’s workflow. The current behaviour was taken from the way the manual entry of Chords works, also works in the Effect Columns (and was actually my idea and a fairly recent addition.)
One thing that would be really nice was if the edit step could be set to jump to vertical position of the next note in the line/column/track. This would ease a lot of things not only editing volume and pan but also harmonic and melodic composing.
I’m not 100% sure if you mean this, but it is already possible to immediately jump to the next note in the pattern, holding a few modifier keys, don’t know the exact combo as I don’t use it myself… cursor down + something + something ?
What I am suggesting is that the thing I have highlighted in my screenshot, I think it is called the edit step value but I am not sure, can be set to following values: Next in Column, Next in Track, Next in Pattern.
yes i get what you mean now. you want to have an option to do the same thing as edit-step but not with a specified amount of lines but just ‘jump to next sample’. so you want a ‘jump to position of next sample after i input something’ feature.
Yes! That would be so nice both for editing volume/pan/delay/fx values but also for transposing a motif so it fits in a different part of the progression. I always lose my melodic train of thought when I have to navigate.
