How about making the mouse wheel control any slider (or even numeric value) currently under the mouse cursor?
Maybe even allow two resolutions:
Mouse Wheel - change in small increments
Ctrl+Mouse Wheel - change in larger increments

yeah!
swap that though? would be more consistent with how moving automation envelope points works, anyway.
Yup. Consistency is important.
EDIT:
Just noticed that mouse wheel is used to scroll the effects panel.
This is a good behavior I am sure nobody wants to lose, so perhaps use modifiers for the sliders:
Wheel (scroll, as it is now)
Ctrl+Wheel (change slider)
Ctrl+Shift+Wheel (change slider fine movement)
(or whatever is consistent with other parts of course)

More basic stuff that should be native…
That clashes with the mouse wheel scrolling in most places where sliders are used e.g the DSP chains. Also this is pretty unprecise. That’s the reason we’ve never added this.
On the other hand, trackpads “wheel scrolling” aka 2-finger-scrolling would work very precisely, currently that gesture is wasted to dsp chain scrolling, which doesn’t need any precision at all, IMHO. Maybe there could be an option for that?
Still clashes with the mouse wheel scrolling, which is the main point. Scrolling content up down, left right is the main gesture for a scroll wheel, so it should have more priority. No matter how precise a touchpad is.
Ok, maybe my point was more like that the very detailed scrolling on a (apple) touchpad is not used at all currently. Also the horizontal scrolling is steppy as using a scroll wheel, but it should be smooth instead. So with a lot of dsp devices, the scrolling is not accurate at all, hence I always tend do click the scrollbar handle then. Maybe the scrolling could be improved, providing pixelwise like scrolling and acceleration? Just like scrolling works in a browser like Firefox, for example…Or in Bitwig.
Also standard on a touchpad is direct scrolling, so the vertical gesture for horizontal scrolling is not needed and also confusing, imho.
