Sorry if this seems a bit confusing. But basically I am asking, is there a way to record (on the fly) by mouse clicking the keyboard on a vst interface? I can’t seem to get renoise to pick up what I am doing when I use the mouse on the interface. hope I made it clear what I was referring to.

just because I’m curious, why would you need that? you could use your pc keyboard or a usb/midi keyboard?
I played around with my KORG plugins but didn’t find any way how to use the mouse recording notes while clicking on the piano of the VST.
this works of Native Instruments Kontakt keyboard. Are you sure that this works on other VST hosts for your plugin?
