moving the record button here will increase my recording enabeling with use of mouse.
The line device is really there for live effects and applying VST/DSP efefcts to that live signal or having it cooperate with other vsts (like vocoder effects).
Maybe the dialog that does handle the recording stuff from the sample editor should be better off being split from the sample editor and being capable of floating above any gui setup (pattern editor / instrument editor / whatever).
Your screenshots are from an old beta… download and try using Beta 6 Annide, you lack a few new features that have been added since Beta 5.

I didn’t want to pleed for this one, because I thought I was already nagging to much.
but anyway in my experience:
while recording It’s handy to be able to access the pattern sequencer.
if you have a piece of vocals, want to do another take, you have to flip over to the sequencer, go to the begin of that passage, flip back to the recorder screen and you’re ready for the next take.
although my F1,F4 keys skills are bitterly improved it would be great to have them in the same screen.
