I’ve got an idea, too. Just leave Mutant Breaks Compo as it is, oldschool tracker style favoring sample based music incl. loops, pattern effect commands, native synthesis, weird time signatures and so on. Start another contest next to MBC instead. You could revive the discussion thread right here:
