I know what some people will think when they see the topic-title. “Why? There’s VSTs and VSTi:s!”
Sure there is. But they don’t adapt very well to the tracker interface. Ok, VST-plugs usually do, but VSTi:s are usually less flexible than samples.
What I’d like to see is plugins that can be pitch-shifted like samples, enveloped like samples, etc.
Another interesting side-effect is that a program usually gain a lot of attention from programming musicians if it has its own plugin-interface. Look at Buzz for an example. Loads of plugs there. It is also, usually, both easier and more CPU-efficient to use a native format rather than VST.
What are the devs’ opinions on this?
