hi, i’ve just written a .pti exporter into Paketti. @Jonas would you have time to check out how it works for you?

p.s. once i have the time i’ll update this mini tool with .iff import + .mod wavetable import and .mod sample-per-instrument import. they’re all in Paketti already.

there they are now.

new version with .pti export improvements (better compatibility), and .RX2 Mono / Stereo / bitdepth / samplerate support
and direct .RX2 to .PTI export

Thanks for your work on this, looking forward to trying some of my renoise instruments in Tracker - I’m getting an error when I try to install the tool however:

hi, sorry about that, i’ve fixed it, i think Releases Ā· esaruoho/paketti-importer Ā· GitHub
there it goes @shawhan

@shawhan does it work for you now?

I was able to get it installed and running, thank you!

I was having some issues converting my xrni instruments into pti, some are crashing the Tracker - are there certain features I should avoid using in the xrni (multisamples, velocity layers, etc?)

Love your scripting work on Paketti, love to see someone take their personal workflow and share it in this form!

hmm, that’s a good question - based on what polyend seems to be like, i’m guessing that multisamples are out of the mix, at least.

i’ve reached out to a few polyend users to ask for further details.
i should write protection against that, if there are files that trash up the polyend tracker. i’ll get to the bottom of this.
(all this’d be faster if i just had access to the device  )

but thanks for the feedback, i’ll definitely keep cracking at it until it doesn’t crash polyend tracker itself, and there are protections against writing invalid (crashy) .pti files

p.s. could you send me some of the .pti files that crash?

also, thanks a lot for your nice words about Paketti!

ok, so apparently it’s one keyzone, one sample, so if the .ptis are being baked with multiple samples, then they’re not valid and will cause a crash. i’ll await some further information re: velocity range until making changes.

hi, i got some definitive feedback, so:

Polyend Tracker does not support multiple samples, and does not have velocity layers.
so i’m gonna write protections against exporting these, into the .pti export and hopefully that’ll help with not crashing.
if you still have .pti files exported by this tool, please shoot them my way to esaruoho@icloud.com or hmu on discord ( Lackluster / Esa Ruoho / HLER / Paketti (Renoise tool) is Paketti discord ) - i’ll sort it out.

thanks a lot for trying it out!

glad to hear you liked the tool! more incoming soon

hey and thank you again, just wondering how to make this work ( on Windows 11 ), for some reason ( with the release from GitHub ( Release 2025-06-09_07-12-42 ), the .rex comes in bit garbled/like digital raw wav ( without sound ) and .rx2 comes in silent ( with markers )

Wondering how to open the files

Thanks again, this is great for many musicians

Edited: and these files actually were in some weird format that no program uses anyhow - so all regular rex work just fine&perfectly

Thanks!
Pls send me the Rex and rx2 to esaruoho@icloud.com
So i can have a look

Screenshots of the result r good too

Sent it ( it was actually with just the Rex - the Rx2 imports just fine! )

hi, i didn’t see any attachments yet (or mails)?

ok found it! thanks!

and Woah, the Paketti has way more tools & functions ( overall ) than i previously realized

way to go man

And also, stating this publicly, those Rex files that appeared as non working, were in some weird Cubase export format ( that no program uses anyhow )

All regular Rex files load perfectly and fine

Thanks again!

yup, @SoundLight - this ā€œPaketti File Format Importā€ is only the file import / export subset of it. Paketti the actual tool consists of over 5000 shortcuts, 1500 menu entries, 800 midi mappings and 72 dialogs. (and the import-export stuff).

that’s why i have a separate Discord for Paketti ( Lackluster / Esa Ruoho / HLER / Paketti (Renoise tool) ) - and run a Patreon ( http://patreon.com/esaruoho ) and a Gumroad ( Paketti - A Framework / Firmware update for Renoise ) with means to support the project :+1:
