New version: MIDI Universal Controller 4.0
I hugely announce that the new version 4.0 of MIDI Universal Controller as just published! Read the first comment for more information. To know all the news, display the list of the new version in “Update History”.
MIDI Universal Controller 4.0 is the next update to support the new API 6.2 for Renoise 3.5.0 or higher. The User Guide has also updated.
This update has been a real headache for me, in part. These kinds of tools penetrate a lot of corners of Renoise, and switching to the new API required fine-tuning many details. But finally, here’s the new version! I apologize, because I know there are users who have been eagerly awaiting this.

MIDI Universal Controller v4.0. List of Changes:
- Added: Renoise 3.5.x compatibility (API 6.2).
- Removed: OSC Protocol code for sound has been completely removed.
- Added: Now the sound of the instrument’s notes is played directly (pressed & released).
- Modified: New restructuring of the sliding bar panel.
- Modified: New preferences panel. Now uses tabs at the top.
- Modified: New official logo.
- Modified: The lower transport and navigation buttons have been restructured and modernized.
- Modified: Some tooltips & icons have been modified & extended. The ON/OFF switch in Top Bar has also been updated with the standby icon.
- Modified: Preferences: Sliders x Columns now accept larger quantities. The limit for the number of sliders has been increased to 2048.
- Added: Instr. Plugin: the “Routing Mode” now allows routing by selecting the slider with the left click and changing its parameter by right-clicking on the name.
- Improved: Now the names of the effects and instrument plugins show the correct name.
- Added: The Up/Down buttons on the master slider can now be controlled with a MIDI wheel routing. This allows you to control almost everything with just two infinitely rotating wheels.
- Added: The master slider includes “-14: Up/Down Panel”. The panel will be displayed with a limited height but will allow vertical scrolling in case of loading hundreds of parameter sliders.
- Added: The metronome volume parameter control will now appear when the master track is selected: “Metronome Vol.*”.
- Added: It is now possible to move the sliders (values) or some buttons (navigation) using the mouse wheel.
- Improved: The loading of the sliders for the “Instr. Plugin” has been optimized.
- Improved: The links for the MIDI mapping have been restructured to better organize them.
- Improved: Creating profiles for instrument plugins is now more thorough. Each profile will only be created if the specific plugin is loaded onto an instrument for the first time (previous versions created all profiles at once).
- Added: The master slider has been duplicated. There are now two independent master sliders that can perform the same functions. This dramatically expands the granular, two-handed control.
- Added: A wide range of MIDI routing modes are available for the two master sliders. Both sliders or rotating wheels and physical buttons can be routed and combined according to the capabilities of your physical MIDI controller (ideally, they should be infinitely rotating wheels):
- Minimum case: control all of Renoise with only 2 wheels or 4 buttons, or 1 wheel and 2 buttons.
- Minimal, most agile case: control all of Renoise with 2 + 2 wheels, 4 + 4 buttons, or a combination of these.
- More broad case: It is possible to directly route the first parameters, for example 16. If your MIDI controller has 16 or more wheels, you can have direct control of each value.
- Added: Navigation and parameter selection is now marked by an enveloping frame for the two master sliders.
- Added: Master slider 1: To select the parameter directly, left-click on its name.
- Added: Master slider 2: To select the parameter directly, right-click on its name.
- Added: Preferences: new options has been added: “Mst Slider Sensitivity”, “Mst Slider Restart”, “Mst Btn Idx Repeat Time”, “Mst Btn Val Repeat Time”.
- Modified: Part of the code has been changed & adapted to the new API.
- Updated: The integrated User’s Guide has been updated (in Spanish and English).
