Besides progressor, are you working on any other tools/ideas? Looking for something that can help me create melodic variations 
I am thinking and developing some theory about algorythmic improvisation of melodies. Some tests for intervals progressions. Playing with relationships between consonance/dissonance of distance between two tones and consonance/dissonance their couple (distance between partials).
I’ve found that there are three series of intervals giving organised change of that two consonances/dissonances. (i.e. succesively 12, 7, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 semitones gives growing dissonance of couple and lessening dissonance of distance) It makes a space for ploting functions or whatever.
I’ve been also thinking about distribution of accent dissonance in pattern.
Probably plotting simple polynomial, recursive or random functions in space of all this dissonances would give some nice melodies.
If anything didn’t interrupt my way of thinking using some nasty gimmicks against me, I will finish what I started and give the algorythmic source of inspiration to the world sooner or later… seriously, this is already almost done…
are you studying at some electro acoustic department in a conservatory by chance? Sounds like you’d fit right in, anyway looking forward in seeing some of that theory put in work through a Renoise script!

Minor update. Now Progressor is compatible with Renoise 3.1 and matches progressions with note volume described by keyboard velocity control.
Another small update. Bugfix in diminished 7 chord in harmonic minor scale.
