give us some examples of your work. we always need cool demotunes for new releases.
abut ascii / ansi … well, i think we could use some nice acii logo for the readme files, but dont be disappointed if we choose not to include this one in the next release.
I think there should and could be included a song that used some free vsti’s…Just to show people how nice it could sound. I know some old trackers who have gone to Reason instead and don´t think vsti’s can sound as good…
that ascii looks to me like an converted gif image (with one of those cheesy gif2ascii tools).
about the song, sounds nice, but we dont need an ogg, but an real rns without any vst usage.
maybe we could make a deal with some freeware vst authors to include their vst plugins together with the next release, but this is nothing concrete right now.
the ascii was made from scratch, it took about 20 minutes, it’s not finished just an idea.
and the ogg is a dump of an rns using no vsts. here’s the original: http://indigo.13th-floor.org/doublerocker.rns
well, your track is really good. the only problem with it now is its size. 5 megs is way to much - considering renoise installer is about 3 mb with the current demo songs.
anway. there is still an option. i will toy a bit with the current install system we use. it supports installing files from the internet. of course this would be an optional taks for ppl connected to the internet.
One as it s now ( or even lighter)
One with more Track, some Vsti, preset and such. so people will see how adding a vsti etc. i guess that 15-20 mega is enough.
maybe we will se an improved vsti management system, too.
this tune is utter crap except for showing a good way to work with the LFOs, maybe you people can do something better ? I guess thats what would fit in an renoise install, a few songs, each under 500kb which show a particular feature of renoise. this song I made might be used for the LFO thing and to show that renoise can do acid with a simple looped saw-wave, the filter and some distortion …
but to be honest, acid is not my style at all (as you can hear), but this was hacked together pretty fast.
maybe demos and tutorials and free vsti should be packaged separately? it’s quite hard nowadays to get a small and good sounding tune. anyway, the smallest-module-is-best novelty wore off rather long ago
I dont see any need to change the current songs and tutorials, they work, sound good, low in kb, and shows the stuff. But yes, a place on the web where even more demo and tutorial songs can be downloaded could be an idea.
Florian, nice tune
It-Alien, thanks for the warning… maybe the Americans should use that instead of metallica on their POWs
Any tips to share for tracking dnb? (Some of the techniques aren’t too obvious if you’re new to tracking - like I discovered the “add a sustain point and low fade out on the amp envelope to simulate release” technique just yesterday after downloading an old IT file.)
