Any tips to share for tracking dnb? (Some of the techniques aren’t too obvious if you’re new to tracking - like I discovered the “add a sustain point and low fade out on the amp envelope to simulate release” technique just yesterday after downloading an old IT file.)
ok thanks pulsar
for tracking dnb … wish i could say for renoise but i just started to check out the new features (lots of wicked new stuff compared to old fast tracker!) i do most of my editing outside of the tracker and just import loops. one good trick for drums / hats and percussion is to put a ED1 or ED2 on the off notes, adds a small delay before the sample hits so you get that shuffled sort of funky effect. works good on drum rolls … also for drum rolls put R01 - R03 and it will retrig the sample a bit, so it rolls a bit. for pads sometimes i double them up, pan one hard left and one right, and put slight vibrato on one of them, for a stereo flanging effect. i think thats a common technique tho. this is for fast tracker mind you i assume its the same in renoise …
Cheers for the ideas mate, will have to begin to think in terms of delays and retriggers more often.
(I think ED1 in Fasttracker translates to D1 in the panning row or 0D01 in the effect row in Renoise, and R01 in Fasttracker translates to E1 in the panning row or 0E01 in the effects row in Renoise.)
Looza that was a really cool funky beat, you should make a song out of it!
hehe, after all someone who likes it … which just proves my theory that every music has its listener. even if its only the one who made it. (and if you cant listen to your own music, then something is really wrong).
