would be nice if we had the option to show only the current selected automation lane, thus hidding all previous and following lanes , just like in previous renoise versions

That’s how each new song starts up with -> Zoom level is set to 1 Pattern. If you don’t change the zooming, it behaves more or less like before.
Or do I miss your point?
