Osx: Option+Command+8 Can't Be Assigned(!)

This is bizarre, I was assigning keyboard shortcuts and Option+command+8 can’t be assigned, pressing that combo simply doesn’t get acknowledged in the New Assignment box!

Similar combinations like option+command+7 or option+command+9 work, it’s just 8.

Using 2.8RC2 on a 2011 MBP running snow leopard.

Option-Command-8 and a big bunch of other keyboard shortcuts are used by OSX globally. See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1343 for an overview. You can reassign or remove them in the OSX keyboard system settings though.
