What’s wrong with Grab that comes with OS X?

It’s built in to the OS:

  • Command-Shift-3 shortcut for taking a screen capture of your entire screen.
  • Command-Shift-4, which gives you a crosshair cursor so you can choose which area of the screen you want to capture.

Or are you talking about video?

If you upgrade to snow leopard you can record the screen as video using the new QuickTime.

And adding to what connorbw said, if you press Command-Shift-4, spacebar then click on a window it screenshots the whole window.

Oh yeah, I did mean recording, grab or grab it does work fine for images.

Looking for something freeware with nice recording capabilities.

I was using camstudio 2.5b for a while in windows and it worked excellent.
I used fraps and vdub to make this in windows:
