OSX Yosemite: FPS drops

Hi,

I switched to Mac in studio recently but having this worrying problem of big FPS drops whenever there’s some kind of animation on screen, such as: Pattern follow, Spectrum view, Zooming in/out in the waveform view etc. It’s smooth as long as nothing is animated but as soon as I open spectrum view for instance, the display gets very laggy.

CPU usage stays same inside Renoise but seems to go up to 50%'s in activity monitor when this lag occurs. Oddly, even opening the spectrum view without playing anything seems to cause this behaviour. Also, Track Scopes view doesn’t seem to trigger this even when it’s displaying a lot of waveforms.

Now I have an older 2011 Macbook Pro that’s also running Yosemite which doesn’t have this issue. So perhaps this is about 5K display? Here are my specs:

Renoise 64bit v3.1.0 (Same issue on 32bit.)

OS X Yosemite Version 10.10.5

iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Mid 2015)

Processor: 3,3 GHz Intel Core i5

Memory: 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Graphics: AMD Radeon R9 M290 2048 MB

Would appreciate some help, also can gladly provide more info if required. Thanks!

Yeah, this is an a long time issue here on osx, something with new new osx gfx api and gui code mess in Renoise. This issue was adressed many times here on forum, still no fixes for this.
