other forumcentric DAWs?

For the past few years i have been solely using renoise. Aside from its great workflow what i’ve come to love more is the forum behind it. Does anybody know of an other DAW backed by such a strong forum?

I love the Cakewalk Community… http://forum.cakewalk.com/default.aspx

I’ve got several Cakewalk Products and: Fair warning – They can be a little buggy. But, the community is fun. Plenty of the Cakewalk user base is, “professional.” ( Assuming you think professional producers still exist. ) Semi-joking, not really…

Roland obviously is now a big owner, ( or the only owner of Cakewalk? I don’t think anybody really knows except them. ) But Roland is definitely, “pro-gear.”

@ forum.Cakewalk.com you have people who know what they are talking about, and also laugh a lot in, “The Coffee House.” ( Their version of “off topic” )

Be aware, once you buy a Cakwalk Product you can not sell the license… So make sure you want the product. Pay attention when you shop… For example: Right now, you can buy Rapture… but you can also receive it for free, when you purchase Sonar X2.

Sonar is a great DAW… If you buy at the right time… ( with sales, and other discounts. ) you can get into Sonar for very cheap… That said… Sonar might just sit around and collect, “virtual dust.” if you have Renoise…

On Cakewalk my SN is: Linear Phase

Edit = spelling, and also “bold faced” virtual dust… I have a lot of software’s that sleep through the Renoise journey… As much as I think, “Digital Performer 8 is cool, and now its windows.” I know that if I summoned the funds to purchase DP, I would rarely, if ever initialize it… So… If you come to Cakewalk, my advice is to: Wait out a huge sale on Sonar, or purchase a Synth… Do not purchase the $49 pentagon synth… I got that as freeware quite a while ago, but I happen to know that in Renoise it does not work at all… Buy Rapture…

Reaper comes to mind.

Sonar X2 looks very promising. Those snap options look like one of the best ideas since sliced bread. I played with Repear for a little bit but there was something that drew me away from it. I can’t say what. I also like that Sonar has a stave veiw. Useful for the amount of jazz music i toy with.

The only thing i wonder is if Sonar has rewire.

What about cubase? Anyone have any experience with that?

Sonar has Rewire yep… Sonar is a great program, but I don’t want to get into a long thing here… Cakewalk’s stuff is really kinda buggy, and if you don’t know it, you will give yourself a headache… and be upset. Now… Cubase crashes too, it has bugs like all other daws but…

If you can afford the new Cubase… Full version and not artist… go with Cubase… My next audio card, might be a Steinberg card, because it is possible, that I would like some sort of discount/bundle to help me purchase Cubase… and I keep buying cheap audio cards, and they keep falling apart…

Cubase + Renoise = Dream setup!!

Edit = oh, but buy Rapture, and come join us for a laugh, on the Cakewalk forums… Good people!!

Edit = oh, be careful, cause you know VST3 and steinbergs trip on that… make sure to read everything, before you buy… I’m not sure yet, what the whole story is with that vst3 stuff…
