Piano Vsti

as thread title says I need one that isn’t too expensive… i haven’t heard a good one either, that MDA doesn’t do it for me.

I know this doesn’t answer your question, since it’s expensive, anyway I like pianoteq very much

Definitely get SFZ and some free soundfonts. It will sound better than any free or cheap synth.
You can get free soundfonts at sf2midi, for example… or look for recommendations at kvraudio.

You could also try the 4Front piano modules, which are freeware.

Hello,

Here are a few that are interesting:

Free 800Mb GIG file, sounds nice but you need a sampler like Halion/Kontakt to play it.

Sample Tank Free + HQ Piano (both free)

Steinway Piano Soundfont - nice bright sound.

Personally, I opted for Steinberg The Grand (commercial) a few years ago and I am very happy with it.

there’s this free 120mb soundfont that sound pretty good, dunno where i found it.

also evm has a nice free grand piano vst. http://www.evmsynths.com/free.htm

This is from my post on the offers thread:

You can pick up the PMI pianos for example here for $25: Bosendorfer 290, PMI Steinway D amongst others.

You would however need a good streaming sampler to play most of these or a lot of RAM.

Alternatively you could make your own mappings with less layers etc in Highlife if you have the patience. (have not tried this myself so suggest trying this with free wavs first to see feasibility)

Just remembered also the wusikstation GB has been extended till Jan 28th so you can pick it up for about $50

There are some piano sample sets included, these can be heard in Mp3 on this page:

You also get around everything else in the package.

I think the pianos are uprights so I don`t know if thats what you were after
but may be worth a listen.
