Playing A Range / Loop In Sample Editor

Maybe i’m dumb, but if i select a range for looping, i cannot hear only the range loop, i must start hearing the whole sample from scratch to check if the loop is good or not.

I have to admit, i used this massive on Fasttracker.

This is very annyoing with longer samples, i have to start over and over again from start to check the loop.

Also i have to hold a key on the keyboard all the time, i rather would like to press a button for it.

Would like to see a [x] Loop button or something.

cheers notorius

€: It would be cool also, that if you doubleclick in between the looppoints, the entire loop would be marked as range [aka CTRL+L]. If You doubleclick before loopstart, samplestart > loopstart = ranged. And vice versa with loop-end / sample end.

Another doubleclick, and the whole sample would be ranged.

€²: This is also a strange action in my eyes. I’ve made a range then i have to right click-> menu -> set loop start , and once more right click -> menu -> set loop end. Why not a menu entry like: set loop @ range.

If you click on a point right before the loop or inside the loop and click on the play button, i would expected Renoise to follow the loop, but it doesn’t.
I would consider this actually a bug, but this would be a solution to your problem.
Not the best one as Renoise plays on the original frequency (so you can’t test your loop on other frequencies to test if clicks or pops still come out)

But there is another trick that can help you out in these cases…
Go to the volume envelop… store your current envelop in a preset that you don’t really use as much.
Set one node to its maximum, set the fade-out to 0 and set the NNA to continue.
Hit a note now your loop is being played uninterruptedly so you can keep finetuning it without having to restart the sample playing.

Knew that tip already, thanks for replying anyways. I could also use the c&p to use it in soundforge in the 2.0 version.

To state the facts.

The range ‘thing’ has obviously only one function: to set the loop points.

Kind of weak in my opinion, there is much more potential.
